Vestry Response to Bishop’s Direction on Same-Gender Marriage

You can find this statement on the Vestry page under About Us, or the Weddings at Grace page under Community. Please read and consider it; feel free to pose questions or offer comments to me and to individual Vestry members. We’ll be grateful if you could do so by February 20, the date of our next Vestry meeting.

Welcome to the New Seminarian Robert Hartmans

Robert began his time with us Sunday, September 11. He is a 30-year-old middler at Virginia Theological Seminary and a postulant for Holy Orders from the Diocese of East TN. Robert majored in history for his undergraduate education and has since served in a variety of vocations, from restaurant management to drug counseling. He was raised in both the Episcopal and Pentecostal churches, which has given him a passion for empowering people’s gifts, especially within the context of a liturgical tradition. He says, “I love to facilitate community and that is where my talents are.” Please introduce yourself to Robert and let him know how glad we are to have him.

Welcome the Rev. Bill Doggett

The Rev. Bill Doggett, our new Celebrant for the 5:00 pm Sunday service, brings extensive education and experience in the areas of liturgy and music. John Graham asked him to develop this service so that it is particularly welcoming to new people, with special consideration for those who are unfamiliar with our Episcopal liturgy. With this in mind, wouldn’t it be wonderful if each member of Grace Church committed to worshipping at this service once during the next three months? Then, when John returns in October, he will find a thriving worship service which offers a new doorway into Grace.
