Celebrate Rev. John Graham’s 10 years of ministry at Grace Church

Sunday, October 19 · following the 10:30 service · Invitation (PDF)
Please join us as we celebrate our friendship with John and Sakena, thank him for his extraordinary ministry over the past ten years, and toast his continued presence in the Grace community. Consider making a gift in honor of John to the Rev. John Graham 10th Anniversary Celebration Fund. Checks payable to “Grace Church” may be sent to the office to Helen Buhr with notation on the memo line. Also, write John a note of appreciation for his ministry and send to Helen as well. We will compile them together for John.

Advent Season Offering: A Life of Subtraction in a City of Addition

The nation's capital is a city of addition. To flourish here, we're told, we must devote ourselves to achieving more: more authority, more status, more wealth, more visibility, more fitness, more prestige. And yet at some point, perhaps through circumstance—employment setbacks, financial difficulties, the demands of caring for elderly parents, aging, physical or emotional challenges—or perhaps through voluntary choice, we come to realize that lives of addition are no longer possible or desirable. How then do we live a life of subtraction in a city of addition? We will discuss that problem—or that promise—through encounters with short stories and essays bearing on this question that, sooner or later, we all face.

Grace Church 150th Anniversary

Grace will celebrate its 150th anniversary on Easter Sunday of 2016. In order to best present our story of worship and service, our IT and website consultant Margaret Dimond has made a simple plan to best preserve our heritage and archive. Opportunities for editors, writers and technical assistants to put this plan into action are open and help at any level much needed. An organizational meeting will be scheduled soon to advance this project toward completion before the anniversary. We have a wonderful story to tell and a magnificent chance to tell it. Those who are inspired to contribute are urged to contact John Boynton at jfboynton1@gmail.com.
