Summer Pilgrimage 2014—The Spirit in Nature

Pilgrimage flyer (PDF) »

Calling all! It’s summer again, and Grace’s unique intergenerational Christian Education offering is coming soon.

Following two summers of ‘Pilgrimage’ visits to area sites (Interfaith Spirit in 2012 and Spirit in the Arts in 2013), summer 2014 brings ‘Pilgrimage: The Spirit in Nature.’

With our own serenely beautiful garden as an inspiration, we will venture to several gardens in the area. Here is the calendar of events:

At each site we will consider the history and thematic elements of each garden, and along the way there will be some study of the themes of nature in the Bible and Christian theology, as well as Christian stewardship of creation.

Sign up sheets are available at church: all ages welcome; the Summer Pilgrimage is also a nice way to introduce a friend, family member or neighbor to the spirit of Grace in an off-site setting. For questions or more details, email The Reverend Sarah Motley.

(Also, there is a very small Pilgrimage Plot in the Grace Garden, near the stairway to South Street, growing vegetables to add to the abundance of flowering plants.)

Cookout & Outdoor Fun

August 3 after 10:00 service
The Vestry will host the cookout, with Larry Molinaro reprising his role as grillmaster, and there will be a sprinkler to run through and a Slip ‘n’ Slide for kids—swimsuits might be in order—to wrap up “Spirit in Nature," this year’s Summer Pilgrimage.
